By Will Schmit
The good fig provides pride, shade,
and fruit. The family bicycle glides
under the lowest branch. Whether
the day is done, or not yet begun
the tree houses the thrush. On
the corner lot a reminder, not
every paradise is a plot between
this earth and air. Hang a swing
to a grandchild’s song, carve a
heart in an old man’s bark.
